Participants in this course will deepen their understanding of rheumatology-specific musculoskeletal ultrasound across all major joints, including detailed hand, wrist, shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, ankle, and foot anatomy and pathology. Faculty will emphasize practical skills such as optimizing ultrasound machine settings to improve image acquisition, performing dynamic elbow and other joint scanning techniques, and distinguishing shoulder and other joint findings to identify treatable inflammatory disease. The curriculum will review ultrasound findings of importance in inflammatory arthropathies and crystalline arthropathy, highlighting their significance for diagnosis and their relevance for guiding treatment decisions. Attendees will also explore current approaches to ultrasound-guided procedures and their evidence-based use, engage in case-based discussions focused on inflammatory rheumatic diseases, and gain insight into current billing practices for rheumatology ultrasound and the evolving role of certification for rheumatologists.
